Abstract

788,626. Two-part couplings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Dec. 22, 1955 (Dec. 30, 1954], No. 36726/55. Class 38 (1). A metal cord grip 20 of a socket 11 consists of two segments 19, 21 fastened together by screws 22, extensions 24, 25 of the segments sliding in a groove 23 in the wall 16 of base 12 of the socket and a rivet 18 serving to secure both segment 19 and the earth contact 15 and the segment 21 having a pair of hook arms 32 which extend over shoulders 31 on the cover to retain it releasably. A plug 10 is locked in the socket 11 by the engagement of a spring-biased cam 45 with the earth pin 60, the cam pivoting about a pin 46 the ends of which bear in grooves 44 in the socket cover 13, and the cam being held in position by a self-tapping screw 47 which is screwed into grooves 44 until it bears against an edge 48 of the cam.
