Abstract
759,103. Two-part couplings. D.S. PLUGS, Ltd. Feb. 1, 1955 [July 10, 1954], No. 20235/54. Class 38 (1). In a fused plug the plug pin connected to one fuse contact is integral with, or secured to, a bearing member pivoted to the plug body, so that the pin may be swung into a position where the attached fuse projects from the plug and can be easily replaced. In Fig. 1, the pin 30 has an integral tab 32 which is secured, e.g. by brazing, to a metal block 33 forming the bearing member and bored at 34 to receive a pivot peg, the fuse cap 36 having a threaded stud 35 which screws into the block 33. In Figs. 4-6 (not shown) the member 34 is cylindrical. Alternatively, the end of the pin is bent to form a member 39 provided with a pivot peg 40, Fig. 7, while in Fig. 10, an extension 41 of the end of the pin forms the bearing member. In Figs. 11 and 12 (not shown) the bearing member is cylindrical and the pin detachably secured thereto by the stud of the fuse. In Fig. 13 the pin is integral with a solid metal bearing member 47 having an integral pivot peg 48, and in Fig. 15 one end of the pin is bent into an angle-sectioned bearing block 49 with integral lugs 50 serving as a pivot. In Fig. 17 the end of the pin is bent into a U-shaped bearing member, the sides 51, 53 of which also grip the fuse end cap 55. In Fig. 20 an extension 57 of the pin is bent to form a tongue 58 which bears in a groove 60 in the plug body, while in Figs. 21 and 22 (not shown) the tongue is hooked round a pivot peg provided in the plug body. In any of the embodiments, the fuse may be either screwed into the bearing member or connected to it by a spring clip on the member.
