Abstract

786,483. Rail pads. BRITISH RUBBER PRODUCERS' RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. Feb. 17, 1955 [Feb. 18, 1954], No. 4807/54. Class 104 (2). A resilient pad for flat bottomed or ballheaded rails consists of a sheet of resilient material grooved on each of its two main faces, the width of at least one groove being greater than its depth and the grooves on both main faces being parallel to each other. The grooves D, E on one main face are staggered relative to the groove C on the other main face. The grooves are of shallow V-formation and the width at the top of the groove is considerably greater than its depth. The pads of vulcanized natural rubber, synthetic rubber, plastic felt, fibre, textile material or a combination of two or more of these materials may be formed by extrusion or calendering.
