Abstract

545,764. Glazing roof lights. BUNTON, S., and CRAWFORD, W. Oct. 30, 1940, No. 15843. [Class 20 (iii)] A glazing bar and, optionally, a glass retaining cap are made from flat strips of synthetic resin built up face to face. A thermosetting resin of the phenol- or cresol-formaldehyde type containing a fibrous filler or with laminations of fabric or wood may be used. The glazing bar in Fig. 2 is made from three elongated rectangular strips 1, 2, 3 of uncured cresol-formaldehyde condensation material having incorporated in it a filler such as shredded cotton, rags, waste paper or other finely divided cellulosic material. The strips are placed face to face and subjected to heat and pressure, the bar having on each side of the web 2 a shoulder 4 to which rubber strips 5 are secured. Another strip 6 acts as a cap, and is screwed on to the top of the web so that its rubber strips press on glass D.
