[Also in Group VIII] A building unit comprises a facing layer 2 of hard material such as hardboard, metal or plastics formed with perforations 3, and a backing layer 1 of softer material such as fibreboard or asbestos formed with grooves 4 or large recesses in line with the perforations and composed of a number of strips of material spaced apart by hard wood battens 6. The unit is reinforced by strips 10 of hardboard.
