Abstract

891,225. Gill bars; hackle stocks. MACKIE & SONS Ltd., JAMES. Nov. 28, 1958 [Dec. 11, 1957], No. 38535/57. Class 120(1) Pin-bearing members for combing fibres have the pins mounted in rubber or a rubber-like material in such manner that they can be replaced readily. Artificial rubber or elastomers of the butadiene-acrylonitrile or polyurethane types are referred to as "rubber-like". A faller bar may consist of two steel strips 2, 3, Fig. 2, bonded to a rubber-like mounting 1 that has been drilled with holes of smaller diameter than the pins and into which the pins are forced. A stiffening strip 5 may be embedded in the mounting 1 or may be situated across the top of it. In another embodiment, Fig. 4, a faller bar of rectangular steel section has a mounting 13 on the top of it covered completely by a stiffening strip; alternatively, a stiffening strip may be laid across the top surface. A hackle stock, Fig. 8, may have a sheet metal frame 25 to which is bonded a rubber-likemounting 26. Specification 880,954 is referred to.
