Abstract

785,817. Windows. PERRONE, R. O. Sept. 12, 1955, No. 26087/55. Class 20(3) [Also in Group XIV] A pair of horizontally slidable windows such as a, Fig. 1, mounted in a frame b each have a cavity 8 adjacent each end of their lower rail 1 to house a wheel 9 having rolling contact with a step 2 in the sill 3 of the frame b, a continuous groove 14 also being formed in each lower rail 1 for the reception of vertical rollers 12 which are screwed at 13 to the sill 3 to guide the window laterally. The upper rail 6 of each window, partially inserted into a groove 7 in the lower edge of the lintel 5 of the frame b, is guided by means of rollers 15, pairs of which are mounted on shafts 16 carried by end plates 17 secured by screws adjacent each end of the rail 6. Notches in plates 20, secured to the lower edges of the front ends of the rails 1, co-act, when the windows are closed, with the wedge portions of a diamond shaped plate 18 fixed to the central point of the step 2. A tie on one window is engageable by a latch 22 operable by a handle 23 on the other window. A depending flange 25 on the lower edge of each rail 1 prevents the infiltration of foreign matter towards the step 2.
