Abstract

784,928. Rotary pumps. JABSCO PUMP CO. Sept. 28, 1956, No. 29717/56. Class 110 (2). Fluid-tight driving means for a pump, which may be used for corrosive liquids, comprises a sleeve 30, loosely encircling a driving-shaft 26, upon which is mounted a pump rotor 14. As shown, the rotor is made of rubber and is bonded to the sleeve, which is secured to the shaft by means 32. The rotor in the working chamber 12 carries flexible vanes which are flexed by a campiece 18. A seal 36 prevents leakage from the chamber 12, and a further seal 40 shields the bearings and prevents loss of lubricant from them. In Fig. 3, not shown, the end of the sleeve has a seal 40 spaced axially from the bearing chamber, which is closed by a further seal 56, not shown. An 0 sealing ring 50 is also provided. The shaft is sealed off from contact with corrosive liquid, which may be pumped, and is also easily removable. A flange 24 is provided for mounting the pump.
