Abstract

The sulphur content of blue-green sulphur-containing dyestuffs of the phthalocyanine series is increased by treating said dyestuffs with sulphur at above 180 DEG C., preferably 220-265 DEG C. Starting materials specified include functional derivatives, e.g. alkylation products, of polymercapto phthalocyanines, and copper, cobalt, or nickel phthalocyanines containing a mercapto, methylmercapto, or thiocyano group. The products dye cotton yellowish green from a sodium sulphide bath. In examples, the following are heated with sulphur: (1) products obtained by reduction with iron powder and acid of a copper phthalocyanine sulphochlorides, or the methylation product of such reduction products, (2) copper di- and tetra-thiocyano phthalocyanines (cf. Specification 541,146, [Group IV]) and the methylation product of the tetra-thiocyano body.
