Abstract

The invention comprises sulphur dyes and a method of making them by acting on a polynitrodecacyclene in presence of chlorsulphonic and with sulphur and a halogen, in succession or simultaneously, or with sulphur chloride. The products dye cotton brown or khaki shades from a vat or from a sulphide bath. The examples describe the application of the process to tri-, hexa- and ennea-nitrodecacyclene. Specifications 468,416, 468,627 and 525,039, [all in Group IV], are referred to.
