Abstract
The invention comprises polyamino dibenzanthrone or isodibenzanthrone containing 3 to 5 amino groups, and a process of preparing polyamino dibenzanthrones or isodibenzanthrones having 2 to 5 amino groups by reacting the corresponding halogen bodies at 180-250 DEG C with ammonia under pressure, preferably in presence of copper or a copper compound. The products dye cotton grey to black shades. The halogen bodies referred to are prepared by halogenating dibenzanthrones, is isodibenzanthrones, or dibenzanthronyls in, e.g. chlorsulphonic acid or aluminium chloride, in the presence of e.g. sulphur, iodine, or aluminium chloride (see Specifications 703,296 and 708,752). In examples, a di-, tri-, tetra-, and pentabromodibenzanthrone, and a tetra-bromoisodibenzanthrone are each heated with ammonia under pressure at 200 DEG C in presence of copper sulphate.
