Abstract

The invention provides a process for the production of sulphur dyes of the phthalocyanine series in which metal complex phthalocyanines are first treated with chlorosulphonic acid to give a tetrasulphochloride which is then reduced with mineral acid and iron and/or zinc in the presence of thiourea. The preferred mineral acid is hydrochloric acid, the metal phthalocyanines used are nickel, cobalt and copper. Specifications 544,953 and 654,507 are referred to.
