Abstract
The invention comprises a copper phthalocyanine dye of the formula <FORM:1046520/C4-C5/1> wherein CuPc represents copper phthalocyanine and on a statistical average m denotes from 2.1 to 2.5 and n denotes 0.5 to 0.9 and the sum of m and n is 3. It may be obtained by heating Cu phthalocyanine with ClSO3H for 3 hours at about 130 DEG C. and the reaction product treated with thionyl chloride to form the Cu phthalocyanine trisulphochloride, the reaction mixture treated with sufficient aqueous NH3 to produce the sulphamide having the above formula. An example is given in which m and n in the product are 2.25 and 0.75 respectively. The dye may be used for colouring paper reddish blue.
