Abstract

1321645 Vat dyeing cellulose IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 25 May 1971 [2 July 1970] 32100/70 Heading D1B Cellulose textile materials are dyed with vat dyes and then after treated with a metal chelate of formula I: in which Z is hydrogen or a hydrocarbon radical, X is a hydrocarbon radical a hydroxy group or optionally substituted amino group, M is a transition metal, the benzene rings Y may be substituted. The metal chelate may be formed in situ from a compound of formula II XY and Z being as above, and a salt of the transition metal e.g. nickel sulphate, nickel chloride, copper acetate, cobaltous chloride, cupric chloride, ferrous sulphate and ferrous chloride.
