Abstract

783,241. Oil-blast switches. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. Jan. 23, 1956 [Feb. 11, 1955], No. 2131/56. Class 38 (5). In the extinguishing chamber of an oil-blast switch, oil is delivered under pressure against the arc through an annular slot 12 surrounding the arc channel, the slot being formed between the opposed end surfaces of a stationary contact 4 and a tubular insulating member 14 through which the moving contact 15 passes. When the arc is drawn, the pressure produced acts on a differential piston 8 which moves upwardly against the pressure of a spring 9 and forces oil from the space 20 through apertures 23, space 19 and the slot 12 against the arc. Oil may also be forced through a further slot 17 to produce an upward flow of oil through the clearance space between the member 14 and the contact 15. An arcing electrode 10 may be provided.
