779,619. Paper board &c. impregnated with alum &c. LICHTENSTEIN, I., and GOLDSTEIN, A., [trading as STRUCTURAL PAPER CO.]. May 23, 1955, No. 14812/55. Class 96. Paper, paper-board or corrugated board, &c., made from wood, straw, sisal or chipboard pulps, &c., is strengthened, stiffened and made fire- and water-resistant by impregnating it with e.g. 50 to 190 per cent of potassium or ammonium alum. Impregnation baths of molten potassium alum and water may be of specific gravity 1.440 to 1.535 and at a temperature of 102‹ to 104‹ C., and of ammonium alum &c. of sp. g. 1.452 to 1.485 at 104‹ to 109‹ C. Molten paraffin or Montan wax &c. may be floated on the impregnation bath to increase the water-resistance of the paper &c., and inert materials, e.g. kaolin, fuller's earth, nepheline, or syenit may be included. Impregnated liner material may be corrugated while still hot.
