Abstract

777,590. Reaping machines. DEBENHAM, G. E. Sept. 27, 1955 [Sept. 27, 1954], No. 27851/54. Class 6(3). In a tractor-mounted reaping machine, of the type wherein a transversely-moving endless belt is arranged behind a transverse reciprocating knife 30, the driving means for the knife passes between the upper and lower belt runs. The machine comprises a rigid frame 17, 20, 22 pivoted on tractor lift-links 60 on which it is prevented from swinging downwardly by springs 63. Two inwardly-moving belts (not shown) extend towards a central gap 46 around rollers 41-44, the pairs of rollers being spring-pressed apart to maintain belt-tension. The knife-bar 30 is driven by a rocking arm 33 pivoted to the main frame and engaged between rollers 31 on the knife-bar. The arm is driven by a pitman from an eccentric 52 driven from the tractor. A single, laterally-discharging, belt may alternatively be employed.
