Abstract

777,012. Fuel injection pumps. BOSCH GES., R. Aug. 22, 1955 [Sept. 11, 1954], No. 24065/55. Class 102(1) In a fuel injection pump having a rotatable driving shaft 3 coupled with. a cam disc 18 having a cam tack on one face and adapted to drive a combined injection pump and distributer member 22 with both rotary and axially reciprocatory movement, a fuel feed pump for the injection pump comprising a piston 5 and cylindrical bore 4 is disposed within the shaft 3 the piston 5 being coupled to the distributer member 22 so as to follow the reciprocatory movement thereof. On the outward stroke of the piston 5 the cylinder 4 communicates by a port 6 with a port 7 and the inlet passage 10; on the inward stroke the port 6 communicates with an outlet port 8 and a chamber 12. The cam disc 18 is driven from the shaft 3 by means of a tongue 19 which also has a T slot engaged by the piston 5. Rotatably mounted on the shaft 3 is a; control ring 15 on which are mounted rollers engaging the cam face of the disc 18. A spring 43 maintains contact betwen the cam face and the rollers. The ring 15 is angularly adjustable by means of a pin 45 engaging with an inclined slot in a member 49 connected to a piston 48 the upper end of which is subjected to pressure in the chamber 12, this pressure being opposed by a spring 51. The member 22 rotates and reciprocates in a pump member 21 having a fuel inlet 37 connected through a filter 75 having a release valve 76, to a fuel outlet 73 communicating with the chamber 12. The inlet 37 communicates with a bore 36 via a throttle 39 adjustable by means of a governor 62 driven through gearing 56, 55 from the shaft 3. On the suction stroke of the member 22 a port 34 therein communicates with the passage 36 which communication is cut off during the pressure stroke and delivery takes place through a valve 29 to a chamber 32 within the member 22 which chamber 32 communicates via a port 35 with the fuel outlet passages 40 as the member 22 rotates. The governor spring- 63 is adjustable by means of a lever 67 and adjustable stops 68, 69. The governor housing 59 and pump housing 21 with the associated components may be readily removed and replaced.
