Abstract
1,111,357. Fuel injection pumps. ALLISCHALMERS MANUFACTURING CO. July 11, 1966 [July 15, 1965], No.31057/66. Heading F1A. In a fuel injection pump comprising a rotary and reciprocating distributing and injection plunger 22, driven from an engine driven shaft 21, and having a rotatable and axially movable control sleeve 44 actuated by a control rod 51, the control rod is provided with a flat (68), Fig. 4 (not shown) which connects vapour venting cavity 62, communicating with the supply chamber 19, via a passage 64 with governor chamber 18 communicating via port 39 with the fuel supply reservoir 36. The control rod opens passage 64 when the rod is manually moved to position the control sleeve 44 to connect the pumping chamber 41 with the supply chamber 19 on the pumping strokes of the plunger 22. Fuel is supplied under pressure to the chamber 19 by a gear pump provided by gears 31, 35 in the train rotating plunger 22. The pressure in chamber 19 is regulated by a relief valve 37.
