Abstract
774,856. Writing instruments. FEND, K., FEND, C., and JAISSLE, C., [trading as FEND, GEB.]. Sept. 16, 1955 [Sept. 21, 1954], No. 26534/55. Class 146(3). In a writing instrument of the kind wherein at least one writing unit, such as a lead magazine 4 or a ball-point pen unit, can be projected from a casing, against the action of a return spring, into writing position, a further helica spring 7 closely engages the unit 4 near its front end which enters the hole 5 at the point 6 of the casing and the hole 5 is tapered so thai the helical spring 7 is clamped temporarily in the annular space between the unit 4 and wall of the hole when the unit is pushed forward out of the casing, and thus holds the unit firmly for writing. An abutment 8 on the unit 4 supports the rear end of the spring 7. As described, the invention is applied to a magazine pencil having several lead magazine units 4 each of which can be moved through the hole 5 to a position beyond the writing position, and can return to the latter position, in which it is locked temporarily.
