774,470. Pit-props. BECORIT GRUBENAUSBAU GES. Nov. 30, 1955 [Nov. 19, 1955]. No. 34352/55. Class 20(2) A hydraulic pitprop having a tubular upper prop member 2 telescoping within a lower prop member 1, the member 2 being openended at its lower end, has an annular member 8, flared upwardly, provided at the lower end of the member 2 and a hydraulic - liquid release valve 13 operable by a pivoted link 16 and draw bolt 17, at the upper end of the member 2. The upper and lower prop members are of relatively light gauge metal to assist scaling by expansion under pressure of the part of the member 2 above the annular member 8. A guard casing 3 is provided. Vents 22 limit the upward movement of the member 2 under pressure, the liquid passing into the guard casing and thence through a vent 23. The prop is charged through aperture 21 and liquid is discharged through vents 19 and 15, upon operation of the valve 13 to collapse the prop.
