Abstract

748,471. Hydraulic shock absorbers. TANCHESTER PROPERTIES, Ltd. Nov. 1, 1954 [Oct. 30, 1953], No. 30063/53. Class 108 (3). In a telescopic hydraulic shock absorber of the kind comprising a reservoir 6 concentrically surrounding the working cylinder 5, the piston-rod 4 extends upwards through the lower end of the cylinder 5, which communicates with the reservoir 6 through a discharge opening 21 at its upper end, a duct 22 being provided inside the e reservoir 6 between the opening 21 and the liquid in the reservoir. The lower end of the sleeve 22 may be castellated (Fig. 4, not shown). In operation, the sleeve 22 remains covered with liquid under normal operating conditions. According to the Provisional Specification, there may be baffles disposed within the reservoir between the outer casing 6 and the sleeve 22.
