Abstract

771,899. Hydraulic shock-absorbers. WOODHEAD-MONROE, Ltd. July 22, 1955 [Nov. 9, 1954], No. 32434/54. Class 108(3). The invention relates tc hydraulic shock absorbers of the kind comprising a piston 13 having valve means for controlling the flow of oil from one side to the other and operating in a cylinder 10 which is closed at one end by a compression valve assembly 20 which controls the flow of oil to and from a reserve chamber 12 disposed concentrically around the cylinder 10. According to the invention, an anti aeration sleeve or tube 24 extends from the upper part of the reserve chamber 12 to a point below the level o: the oil therein, and is sc dimensioned as to leave only a small annular space for oi flow between its outer sur face and the inner surface o: the cylindrical casing 11 defining the reserve cham ber 12. An annular baffle 23 is disposed within the chamber 12 to prevent surging of the oil.
