Abstract

774,456. Electric steam generator. SCHREYER, E. P. June 1, 1955, No. 15757/55. Class 39(3) A steam generator comprises an electric heating element 15 mounted in a bellshaped cavity in a float 11 so that the element is just immersed in the water when the float is supported by water in a container, the cavity having a tubular outlet 22 for the steam. A flexible steam outlet pipe 23 attached to the pipe 22 has a tap 24, which when closed traps steam in the cavity, so reducing water level in the centre 13 of the float, thus bringing the heating element 15 clear of the water. The float is a hollow annular ring with a central opening 13 closed at the top by a removable domed cover 14. The element 15 is supported by a rod 16 from a spider 17 and has at one end a thermostatic switch 19 responsive to the temperature of the element, so that when the latter is raised above water level, current supply to the element is cut off.
