A water container in the form of an L has an immersion heater 7 accommodated in its horizontal limb 4 to which a cold water supply pipe 10, 13 is connected. A tap 12 in the pipe is controlled by a handle 17 mounted on a wash basin 2 into which a pipe 19 discharges hot water caused to flow from the top of the vertical limb 3 of the container when cold water is allowed to flow into the limb 4 of the container.
