Abstract

773,688. Clip fastenings. TALBOT-STEAD TUBE CO., Ltd. Nov. 28, 1955 [Nov. 26, 1954], No. 34284/54. Class 44. A clip comprises a substantially U-shaped rigid locating member 1 provided with attachment means 4 for securing it to a wall or other structure and a bowed spring strip, pipe or tube retaining member 7 hinged to one limb of the locating member and releasably connected to the other to cover the gap between the limbs and bear upon a pipe or tube seated in the locating member. The limbs 2, 3 of the locating member are substantially parallel and are inclined so that the gap between them is directed towards the supporting surface. The attachment means is a tapped cylindrical boss which is welded or otherwise secured to the limb 2 but as an alternative a foot or saddle bracket having holes for wood screw fixing can be substituted. The retaining member 7 is bifurcated at one end to form legs which straddle the attachment means 4 and the legs are bent to engage a hinge pin 9 on the attachment means. The other end of the retaining member 7 is bent into a hook 10 and at the free end of the hook is a lifting flap 11. The hook engages an undercut lip or flange 12 formed on the limb 3 of the locating member.
