Abstract

588,498. Wall and ceiling coverings; metal structural elements. INKLEY, B., and VICKERS, H. C. Oct. 5, 1945, Nos. 25996/45 and 11875/46. [Classes 20 (ii) and 20 (iv)] A rail for supporting wall or ceiling lining boards &c. is provided with a web 1 of single thickness, a flange 2 of double thickness to support one board, and a screw flange of single thickness with its end bent back on itself at 4 to provide a ledge for the second board. The boards are secured by clips 8 having an angled portion 9 engaging in the double thickness flange or beneath the reverted end 4 of the single thickness flange, and arms 10, 11 engaging the boards. Alternatively the web of the rail may be apertured to receive sliding spring clips as in Specification 536,087. The rails may be suspended from purlins 21 by the wire clips described in. Specification 582,534 or by the hangers shown in Fig. 4 having legs 22 engaging the double and single thickness flanges of the rail.
