Abstract

1,004,649. Suspended ceilings. R. RICHTER. Oct. 22, 1963 [Oct. 26, 1962], No. 25876/64. Divided out of 1,004,648. Heading E1V. A hanger for a suspended ceiling comprises a strip 10 having at its bottom end a recess to fit the cross-sectional shape of a beaded web 8 of a panel mounting joist, the recess being upwardly extended by a slot 17 which allows flexing of the material of the strip on each side of the recess so that the strip 10 can be pushed over the web 8 from above, at right angles to the position in which it normally supports the joist. The strip 10 is retained in the correct position for supporting the joist by a securing plate having a horizontal part 11 slotted to engage the strip 10 and a depending part 20 recessed to fit the upper bead 9 of the joist. Perforations 7 in the joist flanges 5 are adapted to receive wood screws 3 for fixing the panels 1.
