Abstract

685,617. Walls; partitions. MARTINPARRY CORPORATION. May 20, 1949 [Nov. 29, 1948], No. 13490/49. Classes 20(ii), 20(iii) and 20(iv) A structural element for walls is formed of a single sheet of metal bent into channel form, Fig. 6, and folded to form ribs 15 spaced inwardly and parallel to the side walls 10 of the channel. The upper edges 11 of the walls 10 are turned inwardly and the central part 14 of the bottom of the channel is offset upwardly. This element may be secured to the floor as a channel 17, Fig. 1, to hold the lower ends of the studs 19 of a partition between the ribs 15 with the interposition of a bracket 21 carrying arms 23 connected to the stud. Panels 29, are attached to the studs described in Specification 685,618, by ribs 27 and are held in place by enlargements 28. A base strip 36 engages clips 33 on the panels and by means of clips 37 engages the walls of the member 17. A window frame 39 is mounted on the tops of the studs and panels of the partition, the top of which engages a cornice formed of two channel members 17 attached back to back and which support boards 40 extending to the ceiling. The top of the partition may be engaged in a channel member 17 attached to the ceiling.
