Abstract

932,775. Turnbutton fastenings. ALLOM BROS. Ltd. Sept. 25, 1961 [Nov. 17, 1960], No. 39587/60. Class 44. A fastening for releasably mounting a fitting 19 on a support 37 wherein a catch member 22 having a catch portion 23, a handle portion 25 and an intermediate portion 24 is hinged to a base part 11 adapted for fixing to one side of a wall 18 of the fitting with the intermediate portion extending through an opening 30 in the wall so that the handle portion and hinge axis are to said one wall side and the catch portion is to the other wall side, the arrangement being such that by movement of the handle portion about the hinge axis and without removal of the intermediate portion from the wall opening and without displacement of such portion in the plane of the wall opening, the catch portion is movable between an inoperative position lying along the wall and an operative position projecting from the wall. The catch member 22 is carried by a screw threaded rod 14 which is mounted between flanges 12 carried by the base part 11. Also attached to the base part is a blade spring 20 which coacts with flats on the member 22 to maintain the member either in its operative or its inoperative position. A nut 27 is connected to the member 22 so that by rotating the rod the position of the member 22 with reference to the base part can be varied to enable the position of the fitting relative to the support to be varied. The fitting may be used for carrying electric light fittings in which case the support is a ceiling.
