773,662. Forced-flow steam boilers. SIEMENS - SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.- GES. Nov. 21, 1955 [Nov. 26, 1954], No. 33333/55. Class 123(2) In a forced-flow boiler comprising a radiantly-heated surface consisting of serially-connected tube groups 1...6, instability of flow of the working fluid through those tubes in which it is most liable to occur, that is, in the tubes of the groups wherein the medium consists of steam and water with the latter in the greater proportion, is avoided by causing the medium to flow upwardly in those tubes, the flow in the remaining groups being upwardly in one and downwardly in the next. Feedwater enters the tube system at 7 and is preheated whilst flowing upwardly and downwardly in groups 1 and 2 respectively In groups 3...5 wherein steam is produced but wherein the dryness fraction is less than 0.5, the flow is upwardly only, the outlet headers b 3 , b 4 of groups 3, 4 being connected respectively to the inlet headers a 4 , a 5 of groups 4, 5 by downcomer pipes 9, 10. From the outlet header b 5 of the tube group 5, the steam-water mixture, with a dryness fraction greater than 0.5, flows downwardly in the group 6 tubes to an outlet pipe 8.
