Abstract
1,148,050. Feedwater heating systems; raising steam. SIEMENS - SCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. 25 Aug., 1966 [28 Aug., 1965], No. 38277/66. Heading F4A. In a once-through boiler installation, comprising an economizer 1, evaporator (not shown), preliminary superheater 2, high pressure steam and water separator 4, final superheater 3, high pressure turbine 5, reheater 6 and low pressure turbine 7, water separated on starting up and at low load in the high pressure steam and water separator 4 is passed through heat exchanger 12 to heat at least part of the feedwater flowing to the economizer 1. From heat exchanger 12 the separated water passes through a pressure reducing valve 11 to a low pressure steam and water separator 17. From low pressure steam and water separator 17, steam flows to a regenerative feedwater preheater 18 whilst the water flows to degasifier and feedwater storage tank 19. In modifications the heat exchanger may comprise a feedwater coil located in the high pressure steam and water separator (Fig. 2), or a separated water pipe surrounded by economizer inlet tubes (Fig. 3). Valve means 13, 14 and 16 and a by-pass conduit 15 are also provided whereby at full load the feedwater may by-pass the heat exchanger 12 so reducing the flow resistance.
