Abstract
773,367. Pumps for spraying apparatus. KREBS, T. May 12, 1954 [May 23, 1953; Nov. 12, 1953; Jan. 11, 1954], No. 13922/54. Class 102(1) [Also in Group XXIX] In a pump for a spraying apparatus, the piston 10 is actuated by a rod 8 which engages the armature 5 of an electromagnet 4. The armature has a recess 5d which is engaged by a spring-loaded pin 5a to form a pivot and prevent longitudinal movement; alternatively the pin 5a is connected to the armature by a transverse pin. The rod 8 engages a groove 5c in the armature which when attracted makes an angle a with the axis of the pump cylinder which is greater than 90 degrees. The reciprocation of the piston is controlled by the screw 6. To locate the pump cylinder 12 in the housing 1, so that a recess 12c in the cylinder aligns with a projection 18a in the suction pipe screwed into the body 1, a groove 12a is provided in the cylinder so that its end engages a set screw 1c in the casing. Alternatively the screw may be in the cylinder and co-operate with a groove or slot in the casing. In another construction, the cylinder has a flange which abuts the casing. -Special forms of spray-producing nozzles are fitted (see Group XXIX). Specification 732,606 is referred to.
