Abstract
773,281. Axial-flow and centrifugal compressors; elastic-fluid turbines. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. July 27, 1955 [Aug. 10, 1954], No. 21734/55. Classes 110 (1) and 110 (3). In a compressor plant in which the compressor is coupled to a recuperation turbine, the latter is provided with a diffuser on its outlet side and with variable inlet guide vanes upstream of the turbine rotor blade ring. Part of the air leaving the outlet 2 of an axial-flow or centrifugal compressor 1 can be diverted from the outlet pipe 3 to the inlet 4 of a recuperation turbine 5 which is coupled to the compressor. Control is effected by means of adjustable guide vanes 6. The air passes to the turbine outlet 9 by way of a radial-flow diffuser 8. The servomotor 13 for adjusting the guide vanes 6 is disposed centrally on the turbine axis. The recuperation air may be diverted from an intermediate stage of the compressor. If the turbine has more than one stage, a second ring of adjustable guide vanes may be arranged between the first and second turbine rotor blade rings.
