Class 12 (1) A plain bearing comprises a bush 4 in the form of a helical spring having the coils fitting closely together and the outer surface conically shaped. The bush is mounted in a conical bore in a housing 1 and is axially located by a cap nut 2 at one end and a spring-pressed member 10 at the other end. The spring is of U-section so that each turn is supported at two spaced points within the conical bore and a lubricant groove 18 is formed on its inner surface. A pin 6 prevents rotation of the spring within the housing.
