Class 99(2) A machine for cleaning boards 15 comprises horizontal supporting rollers 14 between these rollers at least one horizontal shaft 6 carrying pivoted beaters 5 and on at least one edge of the board abutment rollers 20 or 28 and between the latter at least one vertical shaft 21 carrying pivoted beaters 23 . The shaft 6 is driven by an electric motor 9 and sprocket wheels 10 on the shaft drive the supporting rollers 14 by means of endless chains and sprocket wheels 12. The shaft 6 is vertically and laterally adjustable. Pressure applying rollers 16 are mounted on arms 18. The shaft 21 is driven by an electric motor 24. The rollers 28 are carried by lever 26 and can bear against the edge of the board under the influence of a spring not shown. In place of one horizontal shaft with beaters two shafts with beaters may be provided the board being passed between them. Also a second vertical shaft with beaters can be provided at the opposite edge of the board, all these shafts being laterally and vertically adjustable. Known fluted rollers and scrapers can be used in combination with the machine. Of the horizontal and vertical rollers one is in each case made adjustable with respect to that lying opposite it. The beaters of the beater rollers are distributed uniformly over the periphery of the rosettes.
