[Class 60.] Floors, treating ; wheels.-A machine for scraping and surfacing floors, employing a roller or rollers having steel shavings thereon as an operative surface, has the roller 3 within .a housing 20 secured to the machine frame 1, the housing being open at the bottom and having a segment 21 hinged thereto to compress the shavings 16 before they reach the surface under treatment. The segment may be pressed by springs 23, by a leaf spring, or by screw mechanism ; the segment may be moved away from the roller by a lever 26, 27. Projecting through the segment from a bar 32 are a series of curved springs 33 forming a comb to loosen the shavings and adjustable with the bar by screws 35. In a modification, the comb consists of pins adjustably secured to the segment. The shavings 16 may comprise several layers.
