Seasoning and the like; rotating-tool machines. -In a leather seasoning and finishing machine, a bolster 66, Fig. 3, passes over two drums 64, 65 and over an idle roller 67 located above the level of the drums 64, 65, so that the skin 68, in passing over the ridge formed by the roller 67, has all creases stretched out. A brush roll 72 is arranged near the roller 67, which may be laterally adjustable. A brush roll 74 conveys the seasoning to the skin from a pan 76 by the aid of a fluted roll 77, and brush rolls 73, 71, 70 work the skin in its passage on the bolster 66. The speed of rotation of the brush rolls 74 - - 70 preferably increases from left to right, to maintain the skin in a stretched condition. A roll 69 is provided for cleaning the bolster 66. Fig. 6 shows an adjustable bar 78 carrying springs 79 curved as shown, for pressing down the skin on the bolster while travelling towards and through the brush rolls. Fig. 4 shows a means for adjusting two chains 46, 53 operated from the same shaft 48, a screw and nut 90 being employed from the chain 46, and geared pinions 49, 50, the latter mounted on an adjustable segment 92, for the chain 53.
