Abstract

337,536. Harrison, J. H., and Wright, J. Sept. 25, 1929. Splitting-machines.-A machine for splitting hides with a transversely moving endless band knife 13 is provided with an endless travelling feed belt 26 to carry the hides under the sectional roller 47. The feel belt 26 runs over three rollers in a triangular frame 15 which can be adjusted by hand lever 27 around a pin 14 to vary the angle of the belt. The tightness of belt is adjusted by moving one of the rollers 21 in its adjustable bearings. The sectional roller 47 is backed by a rubber covered roller 48 which is backed by an upper roller 49. The rollers 47, 48 and 49 are all mounted in a sliding block 50 at each end raised or lowered by hand wheel 10 to adjust the machine to remove only the necessary amount of fleshing from the skin. A scraper 78 cleans the feed belt.
