Floors, cleaning.-A machine for cleaning and polishing floors and similar surfaces comprises a rotary cleaning or polishing member which is driven through gearing by hand - operated mechanism and is movably mounted with respect to supports bearing on the surface treated. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, a rotary brush 1 is driven through belt gearing by means of a hand-wheel 7, and is carried by a frame 3 pivotally mounted on a spindle 4 to which are attached supporting wheels 10 and a handle 8. A spring 6 is provided to regulate the pressure of the brush on the surface under treatment. In the construction shown in Fig. 3, a brush 11 is driven through bevel and belt gearing from the hand-wheel 7. The brush may be replaced by another brush or by a cloth pad.
