Abstract

383,147. Floor cleaning and treating machines. BURGESS, A. F., 10, New Court, Lincoln's Inn, London.-(Suter- Strickler S÷hne; Im Oberdorf, Horgen, Switzerland.) March 14, 1932, No. 7533. [Classes 60 and 138 (i).] A floor-cleaning machine comprises planetary gear wheels 16 revolving about a centre 17 and carrying cleaning elements 21. Above the central wheel 17 a driving motor 3 is mounted, so that the weight of the motor is equally distributed to the cleaning elements for the purpose of increasing the functional engagement of the implements and the floor. The cleaning elements may comprise brushes or pads of steel wool or felt. A fan 34 is mounted to suck dust from the floor and operating parts of the machine. On the underside of each planetary wheel is a wooden guard disc 19 and three pins 20 which removably engage the cleaning elements. The apparatus has a handle 23 and wheels 25 eccentrically mounted to carry the apparatus when out of use. The wheels 16 engage a toothed rim 40 in the casing. Suitable passages 37, 41 are arranged for the upward passage of dust and 44 for lubrication.
