Abstract

244,100. Rogers, F. H., (Steingõsser & Co.). Dec. 2, 1925. Flat extended surfaces, surfacing and polishing. -In a machine for grinding and polishing wood, means are provided for adjusting the tool vertically to and from the work. The work c is supported on a table a and is ground &c. by a tool g supported on a frame f movable along the work on rollers e running on runways d. The tool is carried by a frame h movable across the work on rollers i resting on bars k and moved, through a chain &c. m, by operation of a handle s which may be coupled to a spur wheel q driving, through a spur wheel p, one of the sprockets l supporting the chain m. In order that the tool may be adjusted vertically, the bars k are pivoted to links l, which are pivoted at their other ends to the frame f. One of the shafts r on which the links are carried has secured thereon a toothed sector 4 meshing with a wheel 5 connected with a worm-wheel 6, which is moved by a worm 7 operated by a hand-wheel 8, where: by rotation of the hand-wheel raises or lowers the bars k. The bars k may be suspended below the horizontal frame f instead of being placed above as shown. Specification 244,101 is referred to.
