772,078. Wire strainers. BALLANTYNE, L. H. July 12, 1955, No. 20192/55. Class 45. A combined band tensioning and sealing device comprises a serrated roller 12, mounted on the eccentric portion of a shaft 11, which is rotated by a handle 20 or by a lever 13 having a spring-loaded pawl 21 in engagement with a ratchet on the roller. The shaft 11 may be directly adjustable in the side plates 19 or the members 12, 13 may be adjustably mounted on the shaft. Alternatively screw-threaded adjusting means 22 .. 25, see also Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), may be provided. The band 16 is gripped between the roller 12 and a roughened saddle 15 and the ends thereof are interconnected by a seal 17 which is deformed by a vertically guided stamping member 18 operated by a lever 31.
