Abstract

The device relieves the operator of the strain involved in the last few centimetres of the cocking operation. On the lower surface (2) of the body of the cross bow is a shoulder (3) on which a lever (5) pivots. At the end of the crossbow tube (1) two pulleys (6) are fitted, carrying cables which are connected on the one hand to the lever and on the other to the elastic band (12). After stretching the elastic normally so that the stirrup (13) secures the elastic on bolt (16) to the notch (14), the lever is then rotated 180 deg., subjecting the bolt to additional tension. The muscular force required in the latter operation is geared down by the lever.
