Class 99(1) In a pipe joint, particularly for connecting a replacement pipe between the ends of two existing pipes, an obliquely split, resilient ring b disposed between the ends of the pipes a, d lies partially within an internal, circumferential recess e in a tubular connector c. The arrangement is such that after the ring has been located between the ends of the pipes, the ring is radially compressed to allow entry thereof into the bore of the connector as the latter is slid from one pipe end on to the other pipe end, the ring when aligned with the recess springing: into the recess to complete the joint. The ring may be of gunmetal, brass or iron.
