Abstract
771,701. Inductors. MURPHY RADIO, Ltd. Jan. 9, 1956 [Jan. 7, 1955], No. 575/55. Class 38 (2). A variable inductor comprises a winding composed in part of a number of parallel ribbons 1 of metal adherent to an insulating base 2 and in part of wires 4 joining the ribbons into a continuous coil a magnetic dust core 6 being provided, together with means for moving it into and out of the coil. The wires 4 joining the ends of the ribbons 1 are moulded into a cast resin block 5, the core 6 being arranged to be moved in an axial hole in the block by a screw and nut mechanism 7, 8. In another embodiment two sets of parallel ribbons are provided and are placed one above the other and joined by straight pieces of bare wire on either side, the magnetic core being rectangular in shape and moving between the two sets of ribbons.
