Abstract
880,815. Inductances. THORN ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 16, 1960, No. 28404/60. Addition to 880,814. Class 38 (2). In a modification of the arrangement described in the parent Specification a choke for a fluorescent lamp circuit has its winding 10 (Fig. 1) on a former containing a laminated inner core member 12, the magnetic circuit being completed by two laminated U-shaped yoke members having limbs 13, 14 and 16, 17, which only enclose the core 12 on two sides. A series gap is formed in the inner core or gaps may be arranged between the core member 12 and the yokes and filled with non-magnetic spacers 19. Instead of one U-shaped yoke member being arranged with both its legs within the legs of the other, they can be made of identical size and arranged as shown in Fig. 2. The choke may be encased in a metal can filled with a potting compound.
