[Also in Group VIII] A floor-covering unit comprises a block or shaped piece of pile carpet 6 united by a vulcanized bond to a layer of sponge rubber 8, the other surface of the sponge rubber being attached to a stiff backing sheet 12 such as strawboard, fibreboard, or cardboard by an adhesive 14 such as a rubber cement. Patterns can be formed by arranging differentlycoloured units in juxtaposition and cementing them to a floor. Specification 702,335 [Group VIII] is referred to.
