A floor covering comprises a wear-resistant facing, a resilient backing and an intermediate layer of glass thread fabric (e.g. woven fabric), adhered to the facing and the backing. The facing may be of a fire-resistant material, e.g. a composition of polyvinyl chloride, tricresyl phosphate and antimony oxide, and may have an inlaid design, or a design printed on its surface, or may be moulded in shallow relief, e.g. in imitation of a woven material. The backing may consist of foam rubber or of a polyvinyl chloride composition containing plasticizers, stabilizers and blowing agents.
