Abstract
625,520. Floors. WILLIAMSON, G. S. Aug. 6, 1947, 21473. [Class 20(iv)] A resilient floor comprises resilient granular material 17 filling the spaces between spaced parallel thick-walled rubber &c. tubes 12 laid on a rigid evensurfaced underfloor (e.g. of wood or concrete), and a surface layer of sections 19 of flexible sheet material whose joints are sealed with a plastic medium. In the form shown, overlapping strips of hessian 18 are included whose ends, together with those of the tubes, are embedded in plaster strips at the floor edges. The tubes are spaced intermediate their ends by loops of tape sewn to fabric strips laid across the normal wood boards 10 of the underfloor, and are secured by adhesive to the latter. The material 17 may be of suitably sized cork granules, and tongued and grooved compressed cork squares 19 with rubber cement on their undersides and in their joints may be used as a waterproof surface layer.
